ASHLAND, OH-  The Ashland University football team (6-1, 5-0) will try to make it seven straight wins on Saturday as they travel to Tiffin University (5-2, 4-1) to take on the Dragons.  A year ago AU was coming off a big win at Ferris State and at the time were undefeated.  But the following Saturday Tiffin pulled off a big upset beating the Eagles 35-32.

"That win against Ferris was such a big deal," says Ashland University head football coach Lee Owens.  To come back from three touchdowns down, we were both top ten teams you start to feel invisible.  We had never lost to Tiffin, we were trapped and we fell into it.  Give Tiffin credit they were 8-3 they were good and they are good again this year.  They are 5-2 second in the conference and regionally ranked I'm sure.  We'll get their best shot."

The Eagles come into the game riding a six-game winning streak.  One of the reasons has been a reliable ground game led by Andrew Vaughn, who through seven games has run for 593 yards and six touchdowns.  "The energy is really high and the focus 100%," says Vaughn.  People are watching extra film it's something we're proud of and hopefully we can continue it this weekend."

Coming in Ashland has a very stingy defense giving up just 11 points per ballgame, but Tiffin is not all that far behind giving up 19 points a contest with an athletic secondary.  "They're playing man coverage," says Owens.  They probably have the most skilled secondary we've seen to this point.  The matchup is not a good one everything in football today is matchups and I'm not really happy about these matchups because they can create issues."

Asked if this game was circled on the calendar Vaughn replied, "It's a game we're looking forward to getting another shot at.  Tiffin is a great team they had a great plan last year and went out and beat us.  You talk about redemption, this is a redemption game."

Kickoff Saturday at Frost-Kalnow Stadium in Tiffin is at 1 pm.  The Eagles are on the road again next Saturday at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
