MANSFIELD, OH-  Several area teams still in the hunt for the playoffs and conference championships heading into week eight.

The 5-2 Mansfield Tygers will try to get back on track after a 46-20 loss to Ashland last Friday when they travel to 4-3 Wooster. This could be a pretty good ball game.  After a 0-3 start, the Generals have won four straight.  The Tygers are still very much in playoff contention as they are ranked seventh in Division III Region 10.

Speaking of the Arrows, after their big win over Senior High on Friday, Ashland now finds themselves at 6-1 and in a first-place tie with Wooster in the OCC heading into the final three weeks of the regular season.  The A's are now ranked 4th in Division II region seven.  Ashland will try to make it 7-1 on Friday when they travel to 1-6 Lexington where the Minutemen have lost four straight.

The Clear Fork Colts keep right on winning.  Clear Fork maintained their lead in Division IV region 14 with a 41-0 win over Galion on Friday at Heise Park.  The Colts who control their own destiny in the MOAC and the playoffs will play host to 2-5 Ontario on Friday night in Bellville.  Odds are good they will do that as the Warriors have been hit with injuries and has lost four straight after a 27-0 loss to River Valley last Friday.

Speaking of undefeated, the 7-0 Shelby Whippets rolled again on Friday night smashing Edison 43-0.  The Whippets will look to continue their best start since 1998 when they host 4-3 Port Clinton.  The way this team is playing right now, they may not get challenged until the playoffs.  Shelby stands second in Division IV Region 14 and controls their destiny.

After a 28-16 non-league loss Saturday night to Lima Central Catholic, the 5-2 Wynford Royals will host will host 6-0 Seneca east Friday evening in a key N-10 matchup.  The Royals are third in Division Six Region 22, and the Tigers are just above them in second.  Wynford goes in having never lost a conference game in the Northern Ten since the leagues' inception.

Also, with their 26-6 win over Monroeville on Friday, the 4-3 Crestview Cougars have put themselves back in playoff contention sitting in 9th in Division Six Region 22.  The Cougars will take on 1-6 New London on Friday.

Right behind the Cougars is 5-2 Hillsdale who is 10th in Region 22 of Division Six, after the Falcons lost a 28-21 decision to Norwayne.  The Falcons will try to stay in the postseason hunt when they take on 3-4 Chippewa on Friday.
