MANSFIELD, OH - The Richland County Sheriff's Office responded to 2331 Lakewood Drive for a Domestic Assault in Progress on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017.

When officers arrived on the scene, Janet Hale was outside and told deputies that the victim was downstairs in the house. Drawers were pulled out of their respective cabinets and lying on the floor of the kitchen. Cutlery was scattered across the floor.

Deputies noticed a trail of blood when they reached the basement of the house, leading to a room. The door to the room showed several indentations and appeared to have kicked or broken into.

Jeremy Hale was found sitting on a bed inside the room. Large pools of blood were observed on the bed around Jeremy, and blood was found on Jeremy's shirt.

Jeremy stated his brother, Trustin Hale, stabbed him after an altercation had taken place. Officers observed two very large and deep lacerations on Jeremy's right upper arm. Officers escorted Jeremy upstairs and placed pressure with a dish towel on Jeremy's wounds. EMS arrived on scene and treated Jeremy's injuries.

Trustin refused treatment from EMS. Trustin stated to Deputies that he didn't have a knife and that he doesn't know what happened.

Janet explained that Trustin and Jeremy had been drinking earlier in the day together. Trustin left the residence and went drinking at a bar. Trustin contacted Janet to be picked up, and Jeremy accompanied Janet to the bar.

Once they arrived back, Janet and her husband, Randall Hale went upstairs. Later they heard what appeared to be an argument between Trustin and Jeremy. Both decided to see what was going on and found Jeremy on top of Trustin holding him down to the floor. The fight escalated, causing Janet to call 911.

Janet stated she observed Trustin come up the stairs, grab and pull the kitchen drawer onto the floor. She stated she did not see a knife being taken but saw Trustin head back downstairs.

During the investigation, a black handle steak knife was found and collected as evidence.

Jeremy was transported by squad to OhioHealth MedCentral where he received stabled to the larger wounds on his upper bicep/shoulder area and stitches to his lower forearm wound. Trustin was transported to the same hospital with noticeable head injuries. It was later found that Trustin has an orbital fracture to his face.

Trustin Hale was charged with Felonious Assault and is being held at the Richland County Jail.
